June 21, 2011---Oacoma, S.D.

We left early this morning --7:45 am. We did not have any rain, but it was very overcast and chance of rain was very positive. It was 60 degrees when we left but it was colder, very windy, and raining in torrents by noon.
This area had 5 to 7 inches of rain yesterday afternoon and more today. We passed many flooded gullies, ditches, etc. We called this park earlier today and they assured us we would not be in the flood. On the interstate we saw a army convoy and fire trucks going east on Route 90. We guessed they may be heading to the flooded Missouri River. We may be wrong.
As we were driving early this morning we came into a very large of prairie east of Rapid City and the Badlands. The winter wheat has a pale green head forming and is waving in the wind.
Our lunch stop was at the 170 mile marker. It had a filling station, a round barn, an 1880 city and a train diner. A great stop if it had not been raining sideways and mud everywhere.

We also lost 1 hour due to time change when we got to our park for the night. We had to set up in a driving wind and a minor rain. It could have been worse.

Here are a few pictures.

We are off to get some groceries.  Goodnight.
