June 1, 2011---St. Regis, Montana

As we left Moses Lake at 8 am. we crossed over the bridge and we saw the fish jumping out of the water.

BULLETIN: THIS IS NOON ON THURSDAY JUNE2.
We were getting ready to leave this morning and the door side slide was moving in as always, suddenly it stopped moving in. It would not go in or out. Called a repairman and found out we needed a new part on the drive mechanism. The same part that went out last summer on the off door slide. New part will be in on Monday. So we will need to find some new activities. Trouble is Walt will definitely have a hard time keeping busy and we are an hour away from any good civilization. We are in St. Regis, Montana. Time to cultivate our patience.

On with our travels of yesterday.  The travel was good except we had mountains to travel most of the day. At exit 204 east of Moses Lake we encountered gentle rolling land with farm buildings miles apart and trees around them as buffers.
Our first stop of the day was a rest area at Sprague, Washington. It was a nice stop with coffee and cookies for the travelers and with a wonderful view. The land was rugged with a lake and wild flowers and birds.

After the roadside park we drove through an area that was very wooded. We hit a slight rain shower before we got to Spokane but everything kept moving. It is a moderate size city and it was easy to drive through on the highway, however, they did have some road construction.
When we drove into Idaho we were in the a lake region. We saw some beautiful lakes.
We continued to travel the mountains and pass the lakes on Interstate 90. At one point there were trees all around us and we were at 3069 feet. At Wallace, Idaho, we went over Thompson Pass which s 4,859 feet. We had traveled up very quickly and came down just as rapidly, which made for some fast curves.
When we reached Montana the road conditions changed dramatically. As we crossed the border we were at Lookout Pass and as we went down the mountain to our next park we had roads that had a terrible vibration. It  rocked and rolled us to total fatigue. When we set up and opened the door we had many drawers and doors open that we had never experienced.  The one good thing about the Montana area is the scenery.
Now we are heading for some R and R since we have parts coming for the slide. We will be here to Monday at  this point.
